Lula lamenta morte de Delfim Netto: “Quando o adversário é inteligente, nos faz trabalhar mais”

O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) se manifestou, por meio de nota, sobre a morte do ex-ministro da Fazenda, Delfim Netto, que morreu nesta segunda-feira, aos 96 anos.

“Durante 30 anos eu fiz críticas a Delfim Netto. Na minha campanha, em 2006, pedi desculpas publicamente, porque ele foi um dos maiores defensores do que fizemos em políticas de desenvolvimento e inclusão social que implementei nos meus dois primeiros mandatos”, disse Lula.

Quando ministro, Delfim foi um dos responsáveis por assinar, em 1968, o AI-5, o ato que inaugurou os Anos de Chumbo no país. Já como deputado federal, chancelou a Constituição de 1988, considerada uma das mais democráticas do planeta. Durante os dois primeiros mandatos de Lula, o economista contribuiu com as políticas sociais da gestão e tornou-se um dos principais interlocutores do governo na época.

“Delfim participou muito da elaboração das políticas econômicas daquele período. Quando o adversário político é inteligente, nos faz trabalhar para sermos mais inteligentes e competentes”, afirmou o presidente.

Na nota, o governo também menciona a perda de Maria Conceição Tavares, economista de vertente divergente à de Delfim Netto, que morreu em junho deste ano.

“Em um curto espaço de tempo, o Brasil perdeu duas referências do debate econômico no país: Delfim Netto e Maria da Conceição Tavares. Fica o legado do trabalho e pensamento dos dois, divergentes, mas ambos de grande inteligência e erudição, para ser de batido pelas futuras gerações de economistas e homens públicos. Meus sentimentos aos familiares, amigos e alunos de Delfim Netto”.
