Governo Federal e Prefeitura de Niterói Iniciam obras de dragagem no Canal de São Lourenço para impulsionar desenvolvimento

O ministro de Portos e Aeroportos, Silvio Costa Filho, juntamente com o presidente da República, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, e o prefeito de Niterói, Axel Grael, anunciaram o início das obras de dragagem do Canal de São Lourenço, localizado em Niterói (RJ), em uma parceria entre o Governo Federal e a Prefeitura de Niterói. O objetivo da iniciativa é ampliar o acesso da infraestrutura aquaviária ao Complexo Industrial e Portuário de Niterói.

A dragagem do trecho da Baía de Guanabara, entre a Ilha da Conceição e a Ponte Rio-Niterói, aumentará a profundidade do local de 7 para 11 metros, permitindo assim a expansão das operações dos estaleiros, o incentivo à construção de novas embarcações e o fortalecimento do setor de reparos e offshore.

O presidente Lula enfatizou o compromisso do Governo Federal em melhorar a qualidade de vida da população brasileira, ressaltando a recuperação da indústria naval como parte desse esforço. O investimento total nas obras será de R$ 146 milhões, com a prefeitura contribuindo com R$ 126 milhões e o Governo Federal com R$ 20 milhões, estimando-se a geração de cerca de 20 mil empregos diretos e indiretos.

O ministro Silvio Costa Filho destacou a prioridade do Governo Federal em fortalecer o porto de Niterói e a indústria naval local, visando gerar emprego, renda e promover o desenvolvimento econômico da região. Além da dragagem, o Terminal Pesqueiro de Barreto também passará por revitalização, beneficiando o setor marítimo e contribuindo para a geração de emprego e renda.

O prefeito Axel Grael salientou a importância das obras para a infraestrutura aquaviária do Complexo Industrial e Portuário do estado do Rio de Janeiro, destacando os benefícios que a dragagem trará para as atividades de construção naval, reparos e logística offshore.

Os terminais modernos do Porto de Niterói oferecem suporte completo para módulos de plataformas, equipamentos de produção de petróleo e gás, dentro do Complexo Portuário da Baía de Guanabara. Com uma infraestrutura de armazenagem de 27.060 m², o porto registrou 742 atracações em 2023 e é reconhecido como um ativo de alto potencial econômico no mercado de óleo e gás, com capacidade real de crescimento operacional nos próximos anos.
