Em visita ao Instituto do Câncer Infantil do Agreste (ICIA) na última sexta-feira (08/11), o deputado federal Eduardo da Fonte (PP/PE) anunciou a destinação de R$ 1,5 milhão para a instituição. Segundo o deputado, o recurso será destinado ao bloco cirúrgico do ICIA.
O encontro contou com a presença dos deputados estaduais Pastor Júnior Tércio e Pastor Cleiton Collins, da prefeita de Jataúba, Dra. Cátia, e do vereador eleito de Caruaru Anderson Correia.
Durante o anúncio, Eduardo da Fonte ressaltou a importância de fortalecer o tratamento oncológico no interior de Pernambuco. “Precisamos incentivar e apoiar iniciativas como a do ICIA, que realiza um trabalho exemplar no cuidado e tratamento de crianças com câncer. Esta destinação de recursos é um passo importante para assegurar que o atendimento de qualidade chegue a todas as regiões do estado”.
Fundado há 21 anos em Caruaru, o ICIA oferece atendimento médico e social gratuito, com o objetivo de garantir tratamento digno e acessível. Ao longo de sua trajetória, o instituto já realizou mais de 83 mil exames e 51 mil atendimentos, e atualmente possui 2.732 crianças e adolescentes cadastrados.
O responsável técnico do ICIA, Luiz Henrique Soares, agradeceu o apoio da bancada: “A colaboração dos senhores será fundamental para fortalecer nossa atuação e permitir que possamos atender nossos pacientes com ainda mais qualidade”, finalizou.
