O senador Armando Monteiro participou, nesta quarta-feira (15), da reunião da bancada de senadores e deputados de Pernambuco com o com o diretor do Departamento Penitenciário Nacional do Ministério da Justiça, Marcos Severo. O encontro, que também teve a participação do secretário de Justiça e Direitos Humanos de Pernambuco, Pedro Eurico, discutiu a liberação de recursos da emenda apresentada pela bancada para melhorias na política de segurança pública e construção e ampliação de presídios no Estado. A emenda é impositiva, ou seja, é de execução obrigatória pelo Executivo.
“Pernambuco tem hoje um déficit de 20 mil vagas no sistema prisional. É um passivo histórico, que precisa ser tratado de forma suprapartidária, pois é uma situação dramática, urgente, que deve ser enfrentada para que a população pernambucana possa recuperar a tranquilidade”, avaliou Armando, durante a reunião.
As autoridades do Ministério da Justiça se colocaram à disposição da bancada para encaminhar os projetos que devem ser apresentados para utilizar os recursos de 60 milhões previstos pela emenda. Uma audiência com o ministro do Planejamento, Dyogo Oliveira, deve ser marcada na próxima semana para garantir o empenho dos recursos no Orçamento.
Além do senador Armando Monteiro, participaram da reunião o senador Humberto Costa, os deputados federais Carlos Eduardo Cadoca e João Fernando Coutinho (coordenadores da bancada), Ricardo Teobaldo, Zeca Cavalcanti, Adalberto Cavalcanti, Jorge Corte Real, Creuza Pereira e Gonzaga Patriota.
