Araripina: corrida contra o câncer promovida reúne centenas de atletas

O Instituto Social das Medianeiras da Paz (Ismep) realizou neste domingo, dia 04, a I corrida contra o câncer, com a participação de centenas de atletas e praticantes do esporte. A largada e chegada foi em frente ao Hospital e Maternidade Santa Maria e percorreu as principais ruas de Araripina.

O objetivo da corrida foi promover a prática esportiva como forma de prevenção às doenças físicas e mentais bem como despertar o debate do tratamento oncológico na região com a construção do Hospital do Câncer do Sertão do Araripe.

A primeira edição da corrida foi avaliada como um grande sucesso, pois além de conscientizar a sociedade sobre o tema também foi um momento de alegria e integração entre os participantes. Foram realizadas provas de 2,5km, 5km e 10km nas categorias masculino e feminino.

De acordo com a irmã Fatima Alencar, a missão do Hospital e Maternidade Santa Maria é cuidar das pessoas e este cuidado passa pela promoção da saúde. “Em 2020 promovemos uma corrida e caminhada em alusão aos 53 anos do hospital e, este ano, decidimos organizar mais uma corrida sendo que desta vez para levantar o debate do combate ao câncer e conscientizar a todos da importância da construção do Hospital do Câncer do Sertão do Araripe”, afirmou.
